Fish. Fish in some sauce for about .50 cents. Whole chickens. The bottom photo is a common site in the markets - they sell differnt types of paste for curries and soup dishes - the paste is mounded high in a bowl. Sometimes these mounds of paste are enourmous. You can probably imagine that the air is filled with so many different smells. More than seeing the area, the different aroma's that one constantly experiences here are one of the most dramatic changes and experiences. Sometimes your nose goes straight from raw sewage to a wonderful coconut curry mixed with the smell of frying bananas and sweet fruit.
